SAMRA Modular Group
A Special Interest Group of
San Antonio Model Railroad Association

 The SAMRA Modular Group is composed of SAMRA members who have an interest in building, operating, and displaying a modular model railroad layout as a way of enjoying and promoting the World’s Greatest Hobby.  Participation in the group is open to all SAMRA members.

 The modular group particularly enjoys setting up its modules in shopping malls for public displays.  It uses these opportunities to run trains, explain model railroading to the public, provide information on SAMRA, and make improvements to the modules.  Currently, the modular layout has three main lines that can be operated in either DC or DCC mode and a small switching layout.  Each module can be modified by its owner as desired, so long as operational connectivity to the other modules is maintained.  The modular layout is a great place to learn and practice model railroading skills.

 The SAMRA Modular Group pays its own expenses, including insurance for its operations that are open to the public.

 The SAMRA modular group selects construction and operating specifications and activity schedules by consensus.  All activities are conducted consistent with the SAMRA 501(c)(3) charter and help fulfill SAMRA public outreach responsibilities.
